Pegulan vinyls are designed to be installed over most clean, dry, flat and level subfloors. This is typically a job for a qualified vinyl installer although a competent handy man can achieve a suitable finish if our installation recommendations are followed completely.
Points to note:
- Vinyl will only ever be as good as the sub-floor preparation. A clean, dry, flat and level subfloor is a must to achieve a long lasting, professional finish. Note that in extreme lighting circumstances some subfloor “show-through” may occur, particularly where a hard-board sheet underlay has been used.
- When installed in the “loose lay” method, Pegulan vinyl should never be perimeter stuck with either tape, adhesive or silicon/acrylic style sealants.
- Special care must be taken when installing over existing floor coverings such as ceramic tiles, consult your Pegulan Retailer for more information.
- The installation of Pegulan vinyl over existing sheet vinyls is typically not recommended. Consult your Pegulan Retailer for more information. Warranty exclusions may apply.
The more information you can give to your Pegulan Retailer at the time of Inspection and Quotation the better their ability to meet your requirements. Things such as:
- Level of potential use – ie busy family room.
- Use of wheel chairs, walking frames etc.
- How often you change the layout of the room.
All of these things will help your Pegulan Retailer in determining the most suitable product and the most cost effective method of installation.
Note that the introduction of Polyester felt backed vinyl floor coverings (Pegulan TX range) has greatly reduced the amount of subfloor preparation required for a variety of different applications. However even these products have limitations so again consult your Pegulan Retailer for more information.
